during my stay in Australia my parents lent me one of their two 2000 era Subaru Outbacks. The 3rd outback of that same generation of 5 they have owned. Clearly they like the particular model! as do I
It was good at all the things, mostly it swallowed all our gear and us without hassle, and ate up many KMs on the way to beaches and mountains in comfort.
one thing I hated, was the “auto” a/c controls. Not standard on the US models they owned. It just continually changed between blowing too hot or too cold air. just unecessarily complicated and not effective. the standard three knobs (temp, fan speed, air direction) are better, in this model at least

Fun fact, the first Subaru I rode in was the equivalent Legacy wagon.
I do wish we got the wheel arch trim on the us models. After seeing it on the ROW Outback models and JDM Legacy Lancaster models, the USDM models look unfinished.
Speaking of the Lancaster, I wish we would have gotten this interior in the US, too.
